About Subject Media
In forming Subject Media, I have over twelve years of experience and knowledge in the field of graphic design, primarily in advertising, pre-press production and website design. “I created Subject Media because I was tired of hearing about people that paid way too much for design work that didnʼt meet their needs, due to their lack of industry knowledge. As a freelancer, I don't have the large overhead that larger companies have. I want my clients to be informed, know that I am going to go out of my way to give them the best product I know how, using all the latest knowledge, and get it done efficiently, and ask them to pay less than most competitors.”
About Brien McDowell
As a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor in Fine Arts, majoring in Graphics Design, I moved quickly from being an intern designer to a graphic designer with Fire Protection Publications. FPP is the sole production house for the International Fire Service and Training Association or IFSTA. I spent three years with FPP as a graphic designer before moving to take a new job as a Advertising Manager for a startup magazine called Elite Trades based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After a year as a Advertising Manager, I moved on to take a position as a Production Manager with TinMan Media who publishes magazines and other publications in the professional and amateur motocross industry. I spent four years with TinMan before leaving to start working independently as a freelancer.
I have extensive experience in creating many forms of print media, including magazines, article layouts, ads in many sizes, posters, brochures, and media kits. My prepress experience comes from working as a graphic designer and production manager for a number of magazines and publication firms. Work experience includes putting together training manuals, magazines, brochures, media guides and other forms of media.
Building Websites
While working for TinMan Multimedia, I started taking a personal role in overseeing production and design of a number of websites. Seeing the large demand for knowledgeable website designers and specialist, I started gaining knowledge in the fields of HTML, PHP and Javascript. Once moving out on my own, I started to focus more on website design. Specializing in “content management system site design”, has allowed Subject Media to offer specialized services in building more client-friendly websites while still making them user-friendly.
